The name “Stumptown” marks Portland’s past- a time when the city was rapidly developing within dense forests. Having to cut down many trees to give way to our beloved town, stumps were often left behind. And although these foundations have since been uprooted, we still honor these roots with our very own Weird Sauce creation.
“Stumptown Sting” has, in fact, four root vegetables in its recipe: beets, ginger, horseradish, and pearl onions. When you add the heat from our scorpion peppers, you get a spicy, earthy flavor that makes you want to come back for more.
We love this one on steak and potatoes, but it’s bold enough for anything that needs a sharp, flavorful bite. Like the forest scorpions of the NW, it’s not deadly, but you’ll feel the sting!
